The India Venster Route on the front face is a beloved route among locals. Initially, you overlook the city of Cape Town and Table Bay. One of the most beautiful little birds, the orange-breasted sunbird, loves Table Mountain and can usually be spotted on this route.
Exposure is moderate and some staples and chains are in place to assist with the ascent of the hardest pitch. And of course, we as guides are there to make these pitches easier for you too. With a hold of a foot and some advice on where to put your hands for a good grip, we will overcome the obstacles without a problem.
From roundabout three-quarters of the way, follows breathtaking views over Camps Bay. Views of white beaches and the Twelve Apostles Buttresses await you on Fountain Ledge. And if it is your lucky day, you might spot a Himalayan Thar or a Klipspringer in this area. They are just as curious as you, so you might end up staring at each other for a while.
By then you will be nearly on top. You arrive at the top from the back table. From there one can see False Bay and the Hottentots Holland mountain range on the furthest side (East side) of False Bay.
For a slightly longer and more challenging hike, the more remote Left Face B Route is another great route on the front face.
